Six suspected illegal oil bunkerers have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Port Harcourt.
According to a statement shared on the Commission’s official Facebook page, the suspects: Ggadagri Igho, Taiwo Adepoju, Saviour Ukpong, Evans Dike, Nsikak Magnus and Daniel Uebari, were arrested on Saturday at Orije Amadi, Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
The suspects, alongside a tanker loaded with suspected illegally refined petroleum product, were arrested based on verified intelligence and discreet surveillance by the EFCC.
Other items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Camry car, eight drums, five jerry cans, a pumping machine, hose, and 65 sacks of suspected illegally refined petroleum product.
Suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded, the commission said.
