Port Harcourt, Nigeria - Hundreds of women from Oginigba community staged a peaceful protest today, decrying the forceful acquisition of their ancestral land allegedly by Former Governor of Rivers State, Now FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in collaboration with O.K. Chinda and Barrister George Ariolu, Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
This development has sparked outrage among the Oginigba people, who claim their land was taken without consent or compensation.
This protest follows a similar demonstration two days ago by the people of Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Rebisi, Port Harcourt, who also accused the FCT Minister of forcefully taking over their land.
The Oginigba women are demanding immediate return of their land. They urge authorities to respect their rights and traditions.
We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
