The Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria, PMAN Gospel Community Wing, Rivers State has continued to wield more influence less than one year after its inauguration by the Tamunotonye Gbenga Olowosuko led Rivers State Chapter of the association.
This is as it recorded yet another milestone, as key influential artistes, veterans and stakeholders in the state were received into its fold during the second edition of her Meet and Greet Hangout in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Speaking during the event, Acting chairman, PMAN Gospel Community Wing Rivers State, Sista Mercie described the event as significant because it pulled together individuals who were shaping the gospel music landscape with their creativity and talents, as well as stakeholders and veterans with a shared vision for the future of gospel music in Rivers State and beyond.
She expressed regret that over the years, gospel creatives have distanced themselves from PMAN, as a significant portion of its activities have historically favored the secular creative community.
She added that such detachment had been with a great cost such as - missed opportunities, limited protection for intellectual property, and a lack of access to the rights and privileges that PMAN can provide.
Sista Mercie however commended the visionary leadership of the union's national president, Pretty Okafor, and the Tamunotonye Gbenga Olowosuko led state executive for recognizing and mitigating these challenges by approving and inaugurating the Gospel Community Wing of the union, to ensure a level playing ground, leaving no creative behind.
On his part, State Representative, PMAN Gospel Community Rivers State, Maestro Vic said the union was committed to building a formidable platform for the next generation of gospel creatives.
He said the leadership of the Gospel Community was already in the process of reaching out to leadership bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the media and relevant government ministries, departments, and agencies to amplify her impact.
Some of those present at the event including Elder Esimvie Osuamkpe, Reverend Isaiah Sam-Amaga (JR), Hon. Isaiah Olumati, Asie Brown, Pastor Chioma Phillips (ChiPhil), Sammy Hart, Benon Whyte, Faithful Georgewill and others, took turns to make significant contributions and pledged their commitment to the growth of PMAN Gospel Community Wing Rivers State.
